The Toyota Prius Prime plug-in hybrid can only seat two people in the rear seat, but the company is working on a 5-seater version. Timing as yet unknown.
Koji Toshiyama, the chief engineer of the Toyota Prius Prime and the regular Prius too, has told Autoblog that he’s working on an engineering solution for the Prime’s 5-seat problem.
Currently the plug in hybrid Prius Prime can only accommodate two in the back seat because an extra seat in the middle would require more reinforcement and necessitate moving the 3.3kWh charger.
