Based on the MEB electric car platform, the Volkswagen ID Buggy is a sand dune explorer with a swappable body, RWD, and a 150kW (201hp) electric motor.
Four wheel drive is possible because the MEB platform supports a motor for the front axle.
While the new ID Buggy whirrs and has an aluminum, steel and plastic body, the original Beetle buggy had an air cooled boxer-4 engine and fibreglass reinforced plastic body.
The concept car is a two seat vehicle with no roof or doors, and a waterproof interior. The body can be detached from the chassis, and replaced by third party vendors.
