There will be no convertible version of the V37 Infiniti Q60, and the brand has no plans to make competitors for BMW’s M and Mercedes-Benz’s AMG models.
Gerardo Carmona, head of product strategy at Infiniti, told Motoring that “we’re actually focusing only on the coupe version. The convertible is off the table.”
That decision comes down to poor sales of the V36 Infinti Q60 convertible. In 2015, Infiniti sold 3,949 Q60 models in the US, most of those being coupes.
Although he couldn’t say that Infiniti would never make a performance cars to compete with BMW’s M and Mercedes-Benz’s AMG lines, “unfortunately it’s not going to come very soon.”
