It’s been three years since the Ford Explorer switched from body-on-frame to a monocoque design based on the Taurus, and to mark the occasion the XLT is getting a sportier look.
The entry-level US$30,600 Explorer gains 18-inch alloy wheels as part of the very mild MY2015 update.
For the XLT there’s a new glossy dark grey colour for the grille and wing mirrors, body colour door handles, and the name Explorer printed above the grille, as well as 20-inch alloy wheels with black highlights.
On the inside the seats are trimmed in a mix of leather and Miko suede, and the front pews are heated. MyFord Touch with its 8-inch touchscreen, two USB ports and SD card slot are now standard, as are the two 4.2-inch screens in the instrument cluster.
The mid-range US$38,100 Limited is seemingly unchanged.
The top-of-the-range US$42,670 Sport now comes with a Class III trailer towing package as standard.
