The Toyota S-FR concept previews a new rear-wheel drive coupe that will be aimed at those wanting a Mazda MX-5 coupe, but what do the letters in its name stand for?
Although Toyota hasn’t explicitly said so, it’s safe to assume that the letters S-FR stand for Small Front-engine Rear-wheel drive.
This in three tiny letters, and a hyphen, perfectly describes the layout of the S-FR, which measures just under four metres (157.5 inches) from head to tail.
The S-FR will reportedly feature a 1.5-litre engine under the bonnet, and will be priced to significantly undercut (by around ¥1 million or US$8,1000) the Mazda MX-5, which is only available as a convertible.
