The hydrogen fuel cell Toyota Mirai will go on sale in the US from October 2015, but initially only from eight Californian dealers.
Today Toyota announced that the dealers would be: San Francisco Toyota, Roseville Toyota, Stevens Creek Toyota or Toyota of Sunnyvale, Longo Toyota, Toyota Santa Monica, Toyota of Orange and Tustin Toyota.
The company has modest sales targets for the Mirai, planning only to sell 3,000 in the US by the end of 2017.
So far, the only publicly accessible hydrogen fuelling stations are located in California.
The Mirai stores hydrogen at high pressures in tank. This is mixed with oxygen from the atmosphere in the fuel cell to produce water (H2 + O = H2O) and electricity.
