Elon Musk said Tesla will cover the difference in federal tax credits due for any vehicles which miss their end of 2018 delivery dates.
Musk, responding a tweet, said: “If Tesla committed delivery & customer made good faith efforts to receive before year end, Tesla will cover the tax credit difference.”
With Tesla exceeding the 200,000 car cap placed on the full US$7,500 tax credit, only cars delivered by the end of 2018 will gain the full federal credit.
Cars delivered between January 1 and the end of June are only due the reduced US$3,750 credit, while cars delivered between July and the end of 2019 only get US$1,875.
