The S210 Toyota Crown has been given a light makeover and extra equipment, with the sportiest model also now available with a turbo engine.
The sporty Crown Athlete models still feature the lightning bolt grille, but have new headlights and bumpers. Base models are now powered by the same 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine used in the Lexus IS, RC, GS and RX with an 8-speed auto.
Other drivetrain on the Athlete are a 2.5-liter V6 with AWD, 3.5-liter V6 with AWD, and a hybrid in either RWD or AWD.
The more formal Royal sedan is available in with either the 2.5-liter V6 or hybrid, both in either RWD or AWD. While the most expensive version, the Majesta is solely a hybrid, although there’s a choice of RWD or AWD.
The Crown is also the first production car to use Japan’s ITS 760MHz vehicle to vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) technology.
Features available with V2V and V2I include Right-turn Collision Caution, Red Light Caution, Communicating Radar Cruise Control, Emergency Vehicle Notification, and Signal Change Advisory.
