Porsche Macan gains 174kW (237hp) 4-cylinder option in UK, SE Asia

If anyone was ever in any doubt that Porsche is becoming a paler and paler imitation of itself, the company has unveiled a 4-cylinder of the Audi Q5-based Macan SUV.

Unlike other new models from Porsche, the company hasn’t issued a press release about the new Macan variant. Instead all we have to go on are the details offered up by various Porsche websites around the world. From what we can gather the new 4-cylinder Porsche Macan will only be sold (for now) in the UK and South-East Asia via special order. As such no price is listed on the company’s websites.

The appellation-free Macan is powered by the familiar VW 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. In the base-level Macan it churns out 174kW (237hp) of power and 350Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels via dual clutch transmission. Porsche claims a top speed of 223km/h (138 mph) and a 0-100km/h time of 6.9 seconds.
