The next generation Volvo V40 is being designed with the US in mind and will come to America after the model’s launch in 2017.
Alain Visser, Volvo’s chief marketing officer, told De Telegraaf that the next Golf-size V40 will be a truly global vehicle. In addition to gas and diesel V40 models, the company will also offer a gas-electric hybrid model.
Volvo will consider a long-wheelbase version for China.
The current V40 is based on the same platform as the Ford Focus and is the last vehicle developed by Volvo under Ford ownership. Volvo is now owned by Chinese car company Geely.
