Mazda is finally going electric, properly, and not just with the weird MX-30 SUV. And some will be RWD performance models!
Mazda is developing a new SkyActiv architecture that supports both transverse FWD and longitudinal RWD layouts. This platform will be used for cars with mild hybrid, full hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full EV powertrains.
By 2025 Mazda will launch 3 EVs, 5 plug-in hybrids, and 5 hybrids using this platform. There will also be gas and diesel 48V mild hybrids.
The company is also developing a new dedicated EV architecture that will launch between 2025 and 2030.
