According to Car and Driver, the next generation Volkswagen Golf cabrio will be sold in the US, and will plug a hole in the company’s lineup when the Eos departs for the crushing yard in the sky.
Unlike the current Golf cabrio, which is based on the Mark VI Golf platform, the next generation convertible will use the company’s MQB flexible platform.
The Golf has a folding canvas roof, while the soon to depart Eos has a folding metal top.
Given the emissions cheating scandal that’s wiped billions off the value of Volkswagen, don’t expect to see the Golf cabrio to use TDI engines stateside.
