The Mark III Skoda Fabia has finally been revealed after a long series of teasers, and its sharp looks hide underpinnings shared with the recently updated Typ 6R (Mark V) Volkswagen Polo.
The new Czech-built city hatch isn’t revolutionary to look at, but it does feature the brand’s new sharper edged styling theme. A shoulder line, dubbed the tornado line, runs down the side of the new Fabia and creates a little visual interest as it casts a deeper shadow on the doors than elsewhere.
Under the hood, the new Fabia will be powered by a selection of 3- and 4-cylinder mated to either a manual or dual-clutch (DSG) transmission. For petrol buyers, there will be a 44kW (60hp) 1-litre direct-injection 3-cylinder engine and a 81kW (110hp) 1.2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged (TSI) donk.
As far as diesels go, at launch all will feature 1.4 litres of displacement spread over three cylinders. Power will range from 55kW to 77kW.
The Mark III Skoda Fabia makes its public debut at the Paris Motor Show at the beginning of October.
