The Mark III Ford Focus RS will have more power and torque than both the Volkswagen Golf R and the Subaru Impreza WRX STI.
The new Focus RS has a 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine with 345hp/325 lb-ft (257kW/440Nm), and a new all-wheel drive system and 6-speed manual. There’s a 15 second overboost function that allows for up to 347 lb-ft (470Nm).
70 percent of the torque can go to the rear axle. There’s a clutch pack for each half-shaft for torque vectoring, so 100 percent of torque at the back can go to one wheel alone.
Drift mode and front wheel brake-based torque vectoring is also standard.
The Volkswagen Golf R has a 2-liter turbo with 292hp/280 lb-ft (218kW/380Nm), and the Subaru Impreza WRX STI has a turbo boxer with 305hp/290 lb-ft (227kW/393Nm).
