Built on Volvo’s CMA platform, the Lynk & Co 01 is a brand new SUV from Geely that will be sold in China, Europe and the US.
The Lynk & Co 01 is claimed to be the “most connected car ever” with an open digital platform create by Microsoft and Alibaba that allows developers to come up with apps for the car. The 01 can also be shared, like an AirBnB apartment, through a companion app.
Using Volvo’s CMA platform, the 01 is powered by a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder or 2-liter 4-cylinder. Hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and dual-clutch transmissions will also be available.
The 01 will be the first of four Lynk & Co cars due by 2021, which include a sedan and hatch.
The Lynk & Co 01 will go on sale in China late 2017, followed by Europe and the US in 2018. Like Tesla, Lynk & Co will sidestep the traditional dealership model, with cars sold either online or through some factory owned stores.
