Just four years after being revived, the Lincoln Continental is once again a dead car driving. Production of the car in the US will stop at the end of 2020.
The Continental is the brand’s last sedan in the States after it axed the MKZ. The Continental will continue to be sold in China where sedans (especially luxury sedans) are still popular and profitable.
Sales of the Continental peaked in 2017 with 12,012 sold. In 2019 just 6,587 were sold in the US
“Lincoln is investing in growth segments and the brand will feature a full portfolio of SUVs, including a fully electric vehicle in the future,” the brand said in an official announcement.
“Lincoln will continue to keep its newest SUVs fresh and we will have more news to share later this year; however, as the full-size premium sedan segment continues to decline in the U.S., we plan to end production of the Lincoln Continental at the end of this year.”
