Except for a little bit of gray mascara on the headlights and taillights, the new production Lexus LC500 has very few changes from the LF-LC concept.
In what can be described as the opposite to the transition from the Chevrolet Volt concept to production car, the Lexus LC has taken three years to go from concept to production, and come out virtually unchanged. The overall shape is the shape, while some detailing has been fiddled with, but otherwise the concept and final car are very similar.
The LC range consists solely of the LC500 for now, and is powered by a 5-liter naturally aspirated V8 with 467hp (348kW) and 389 lb-ft (527Nm). The engine is redlined at 7,300rpm, and is borrowed from the RC-F and GS-F.
Power goes to the rear wheels via a 10-speed automatic. A 0-60mph time of under 4.5 seconds is claimed. A hybrid and a turbocharged LC-F are rumored.
The LC rides on Toyota’s new global luxury rear-wheel drive platform (GA-L), which will also be found on the next generation LS sedan.
