Sweden’s Koenigsegg makes some of the most extreme hypercars out there, but what does its name mean and where does it come from?
Koenigsegg is named after its founder Christian von Koenigsegg. His name is German for Christian from Königsegg.
Königsegg was a principality in the Holy Roman Empire, a precursor to today’s modern German state. Christian von Koenigsegg’s family crest contains a version of Königsegg’s coat of arms, both of which are used in the company’s logo.
