After many, many years as America’s unchallenged king off the road, the Jeep Wrangler has competition and now it’s fighting back with a V8!
With the Ford Bronco on the horizon, Jeep (and Fiat Chrysler) are fighting back the only way they know how: sticking a big American V8 under the hood.
Jeep has confirmed that a V8 will be available in the Wrangler in 2021, but no word yet on which of the company’s Hemi V8 engines it will use.
The Wrangler Rubicon 392 concept earlier this year had a 6.4L V8 with 336kW (450hp) and 610Nm (450 lb-ft), 8-speed auto, 4×4, and 0-60mph in under 5s. Hopefully the concept is pointing us in the right direction.
The concept also came 37″ mud tires, a 2-in lift kit and Dana axles. We don’t know if the production car will be so well equipped, though.
