Hyundai Veloster cut from UK lineup, replaced by i30 Turbo

This week Hyundai announced a raft of changes and updates to its i40 and i30 range, including a new i30 Turbo variant. Cue Hyundai UK withdrawing the quirky four-door Veloster hatch from that market.

The Veloster (above), with its two-doors on one side and one of the other, has been taken off the market in the UK. Like elsewhere, it was offered with a naturally aspirated 1.6-litre direct injection engine and 1.6-litre turbo, which brought with it not only more power, but more aggressive looks.

The sporty mantle will now be taken up by the new i30 Turbo (below), which features a slightly detuned version of the 1.6-litre turbo used in the Veloster.

Launched earlier this week, the new i30 Turbo features 137kW/265Nm version of the 1.6-litre direct injection turbo. It’s mated exclusively to a 6-speed manual transmission.
