Hyundai N is the Korean car maker’s performance sub-brand, and will be used sporting versions of Hyundai and Genesis cars, but what does its name mean?
According to Hyundai, the N sub-brand is named after the company’s Namyang proving grounds. The company says that “Namyang is the heart of Hyundai Motor’s global R&D network and birthplace of all Hyundai cars”.
N also conveniently references the world famous Nurburgring Nordschleife track, which will be “used to hone N’s high performance technologies”.
So, there you have it. The N name is a little bit historical and little aspirational.
