Hyundai extends expiring warranties until June 30, 2020

Around 1.2 million Hyundai cars around the world which have warranties expiring between March and June have had their warranties extended.

In the US this applies to both the 5 year/60,000mi new car warranty, and the 10 year/100,000mi powertrain warranty.

All of these expiring warranties have been extended up to June 30, 2020. Hyundai will contact all eligible US customers directly.

To help with social distancing Hyundai of America allows for authorization to be given electronically so physical papers don’t need to be signed.

“Hyundai’s decision comes amid a global reaction to the outbreak of COVID-19, which has caused many countries to take various precautionary measures that include closing non-essential facilities. With the warranty extensions, the company expects to help address any concerns customers may have about being unable to visit a service center to get vehicle maintenance or warranty repairs while adhering to stay-at-home and physical distancing guidelines set by local/federal governments,” the company said.
