The Honda Civic Type R Pickup Concept has made its debut at the SMMT Test Day, was built by project engineering department at Honda’s factory in Swindon, UK.
Named Project J, the car is based on a pre-production prototype, and is different from the B pillar back.
The Civic Type R Pickup Concept has the same 2-liter turbocharged I4 engine and FWD layout as the production car, and has an estimated 0-100km/h time of under 6 seconds, and a top speed of over 165mph (266km/h).
“We have a special projects division at the factory in Swindon and this project was a fantastic opportunity for the team to show just what their creative minds could do,” said project lead Alyn James.
“We are even considering taking it to the Nurburgring to see if we can take the record for the fastest front wheel drive pickup truck!”
Honda says there are “no plans to put concept into production.
