The Genesis G70, the young brand’s first BMW 3-Series rival, will not be getting an N model to rival the M3 any time in the near future.
Albert Biermann, head of testing and high performance development for Hyundai and Kia, told Automotive News, a performance sub-brand isn’t being considered for Genesis as the brand will marketed on luxury and elegance.
“Before the Genesis brand was started, we had made some concept investigation for a G70 N. Of course we would love to do that, but right now I cannot see that,” Biermann told Automotive News.
The Genesis G70 has a RWD/AWD platform shared with the Kia Stinger, and is available with 2L turbo I4 or a 3.3L twin turbo V6.
The twin turbo V6 makes 365hp (272kW) and 376 lb-ft (510Nm), while the I4 makes 252hp (188kW) and 260 lb-ft (353Nm), or slightly more with a manual transmission.
