The Ford Cougar was a FWD coupe based on the Mondeo. Sold between 1998 and 2002, it was based on the contemporary Ford Mondeo. The car’s New Edge styling was controversial and it never achieved the sales success of some previous Ford coupes, like the Capri.
Available with either 2-litre 4-cylinder engine or a 2.5-litre V6, the Cougar was built in America and upgraded (or converted to RHD) in Cologne, Germany. The Cougar was sold in America as a Mercury.
