The third generation Fiat Punto has officially been axed and production ended, and there’s no replacement planned for the supermini hatchback.
Production of the Punto has ended, and the car is no longer on sale in the UK.
The third generation Punto was originally launched in 2005 as the Grande Punto. After its first facelift in 2009 it became the Punto Evo, and with the second facelift in 2012 it was renamed plain old Punto.
Former FCA boss Sergio Marchionne confirmed the Punto would not be replaced. Its production space at the plant in Melfi, Italy, will be used for a second Maserati instead.
The Fiat range in Europe consists of the 500 (to be replaced in 2019), 500L, 500X, Panda (replacement confirmed), Tipo, and 124 Spider.
