To create the F46 BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer from the F45 2-Series Active Tourer, BMW has stretched the latter’s wheelbase, added a taller, flatter roof line, and lengthened the rear compartment to house a third row of seats.
The 2-Series Gran Tourer will be initially available with the choice of two petrol engines: the 3-cylinder 218i and 4-cylinder 220i. There will also be three different diesel engine tunes to choose from: 216d, 218d and 220d xDrive (AWD). All engine options feature turbocharging.
Both 5-seat and 7-seat configurations will be available for purchase.
Optional equipment includes LED high- and main-beam headlights, hands-free tailgate operation, head-up display, dynamic dampers, active cruise control that works in stop/start traffic, alloy wheels up 18 inches in diameter, automatic high beam, automated parking, and LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
