The Cadillac XT5 is the first SUV from the brand to feature its new naming scheme, but what do the letters in its name mean?
With new or heavily updated models, Cadillac is switching its SUVs to the XT nameplate with a suffix indicating its size and price, for example XT5 or XT7. This follows on from its plans to rename its sedan range as CT, with names like CT6, CT5 and so forth.
According to Cadillac, XT stands for Crossover Touring. So, be prepared for a whole bunch of Cadillac XTx cars in the near future.
Just one thing, though. The ever popular Escalade will escape this Euro-inspired naming frenzy, it will stay as the Escalade for now and forever more.
