Duncan Aldred, brand manager for Buick, says that the upscale division is no longer looking at the Opel Adam as a Mini or Fiat 500 style chic customizable city car.
With sales of both vehicles stalling, and people still gravitating in large numbers towards crossover vehicles, the Adam is no longer on the cards.
Aldred told Automotive News, “I very much did feel when I came over [two years ago] that that could really help accelerate the Buick brand story. I don’t see that as much. Whether the market shifted or the fashion nature of those cars has changed, I don’t know. But I wouldn’t be looking for a small, B-segment car today.”
Aldred says that he’s happy with the brand’s upcoming lineup of three sedans (Verano, Regal, new LaCrosse), three crossovers (Encore, China-built Envision, Enclave) and a halo car (Cascada convertible).
