Edmunds is reporting that the mid-size Buick Envision SUV is expected to hit US showrooms from the third quarter of 2015.
The Envision was launched earlier this year in China, and slots in between the small Encore and the full-size Enclave.
When it does go on sale in the States, it’s expected to come in both front- and all-wheel drive versions. Only 4-cylinder petrol engines will be offered, but the Envision will be offered with a mild hybrid drivetrain.
The headline drivetrain for the Enclave in China features a turbocharged 2-litre 4-cylinder direct injection engine with 191kW (256hp) and 353Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque.
If the industry insider who spoke to Edmunds is correct, the Buick Envision will follow the lead set by the next generation Chevrolet Cruze in being launched first in China before the US, signalling just how import the Middle Kingdom is to GM’s forward plans.
