Production of the F34 BMW 3-Series GT has ended. The tall sorta sporty hatchback but not an SUV was never popular and won’t be replaced.
According to Autocar production of the 3-Series Gran Turismo, based on the previous generation 3-Series, has ceased.
Last year Harald Kruger, BMW’s chairman, told investors “there won’t be a successor” to the unloved GT.
Anyone who wanted a liftback or frameless windows or something a bit sportier looking than the regular 3-Series saloon went for the 4-Series “four door coupe”. And anyone who wanted something more practical bought a 3-Series estate or X3 SUV.
