Road legal Aston Martins will be either hybrid or fully electric by 2030, with the only pure gas powered cars being track only models.
In Aston Martin’s annual report CEO Tobias Moers said by 2030 EVs will account for 45% of sales, hybrids 50%, and gas only models just 5%.
These hybrid and EV drivetrains will taken from Mercedes-Benz, which owns a 20% stake in the company. Doing so Aston Martin “avoids the high investment in powertrain and electrical architecture, thereby de-risking the business plan”.
And these gas only cars will be track only specials. That way they don’t have to comply with strict emissions legislation, especially in Europe.
