The Acura Super Handling SLX is a restored 1997 SUV with a turbo AWD powertrain from the RDX, and updated frame and suspension.
Built for RADwood 2019, Acura took a Fir Green 1997 SLX (a rebadged Isuzu Trooper), and removed the 4-speed auto, 4×4 drivetrain with 2-speed transfer case, and the 3.2L V6 with 142kW (190hp) at 5,600rpm and 255Nm (188 lb-ft) at 4,000rpm.
This was replaced by a turned around 2L turbo I4 from the RDX with 261kW (350hp) at 6,500rpm, and 461Nm (340 lb-ft) between 1,600 and 4,500rpm featuring custom intake, exhaust, turbo and ECU.
The SLX’s independent double wishbone front and solid axle rear suspension was also replaced by MacPherson struts (front) and a 5-link independent rear.
The original 16″ wheels were replaced by 17″ Fiften52 Tarmac wheels with 245/65 Yokohama Geolander tires.
There’s also a new custom made hard shell spare tire cover, SH-AWD badging, rewrapped steering wheel, paddle shifters, new front and rear subframes, and a wider track.
