The A217 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cabriolet is final body style for the latest generation S-Class range, and it debuts at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
With the rationalization of Mercedes-Benz’s car names and the subsequent retirement of the CL badge, the new S-Class cabrio is first convertible wear the S badge in several decades.
The top-spec model will be the Mercedes-AMG S63 cabrio that’s powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 with 585hp/430kW and 664 lb-ft/900Nm. Power is sent to ground via a 4Matic AWD system, and the S63 cabrio is good for a 0-100km/h time of 3.9 seconds.
To protect passengers from cold or choppy air, the S-Class cabrio has the Aircap and Airscarf systems, and there’s also heated front and rear seats, and arm rests too.
Sales begin in 2016.
