No diesel engine option will offered with all-new B9 Audi A4 which will go on sale in the US from March 2016. You can probably blame dieselgate for that.
Scott Keogh, president of Audi of America, told Automotive News that there isn’t just isn’t enough demand for diesel sedans in US, although crossover wagons are a whole different kettle of fish.
Keogh denies that the fallout from the dieselgate saga has had any affect on the company’s planning.
“The marketplace speaks, we listen to the marketplace, and the marketplace told us, ‘Go with SUVs,’” Keogh told Automotive News.
The company originally planned to offer a 2-liter turbo-diesel (TDI) engine with the new A4. The company is currently negotiating a plan to fix affected 2-liter EA189 diesel engines sold in the US with a emissions testing defeat device.
