The Stanza name has been used on several generations of small family cars from Datsun/Nissan, but what does its name mean?
Stanza is Italian for room, and it’s apparently this meaning that Datsun/Nissan were trying to convey with their compact family cars.
Typically in English, though, a stanza is grouped set of lines in a poem. There’s no fixed rules about how many lines constitute a stanza, but they are often demarcated by a blank line above and below.
No doubt this rather more evocative meaning also played into Datsun’s thinking, although quite what a poem about the Nissan/Datsun Stanza might be about isn’t quite clear. They’re not exactly the most thrilling cars to be made by the company.
