QL Kia Sportage: Evolutionary looks, more tech, coming 2016

The fourth generation Kia Sportage has evolutionary styling, a new platform shared with the Hyundai Tucson, and more technology than ever before.

Unveiled in US trim at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the new QL Kia Sportage will be made in Korea at Kia’s Gwangju, Korea, factory, and will go on sale in 2016.

It will be available in LX, EX and SX Turbo trims. The LX and EX have a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 181hp (135kW) and 175 lb-ft (237Nm).

The SX Turbo has a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 241hp (180kw) and 260 lb-ft (353Nm). For the US, a 6-speed auto and front-wheel drive is standard on all models, while all-wheel drive is optional.

New features for the Sportage include autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, lane change assistance, rear cross traffic alert, and bi-xenon headlights with automatic beam bending.

A 5-inch touchscreen and 160W 6-speed sound system is standard, while top spec models have a 7-inch screen and a 320W Harmon Kardon unit.
