The Nissan Rouge Select (a bare bones, cut-price first generation Rogue) will be replaced by the Rogue’s smaller sibling, the J11 Qashqai.
According to Automotive News, Nissan underestimated the demand for the Rogue SUV in the North American market. With current American capacity capped at around 100,000 to 120,000 units insufficient for demand.
To alleviate this, the company will begin shipping some Japan-produced Rogues to the US. The current T32 Rogue is sold in many markets as the X-Trail. To cope with expanded X-Trail/Rogue production in Japan, Nissan will phase out the previous generation Rogue, thereby ending the Rogue Select model.
In order to compensate for this, Nissan plans to offer the smaller Qashqai in the USA. The J11 Qashqai and T32 Rogue are built on the same Common Module Family.
