The second generation Chevrolet Cruze sedan has been revealed in the US, and it’s a very different to the model in China.
The car that will be sold in America looks likely to be sold elsewhere around the world. It has unique body panels and different style, although the interiors look the same. The 2016 Cruze is longer, wider, but shorter than the current car.
In the USA, the Cruze will be sold in L, LS, LT and Premier grades. An RS sports package will be optional.
The Cruze has MacPherson struts at the front, and torsion beam suspension at the rear in the L, LS and LT, and Z-link suspension system in the Premier. Wheels range in size from 15- to 18-inch.
Under the hood there’s a new more powerful 153hp/177 lb-ft aluminium 1.4-litre turbo-4. The front-wheel drive sedan has either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed auto. Automatic engine stop/start and electric power steering is standard.
Safety wise there’s blind zone warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assistance and forward collision alert. The 2016 Cruze will be built in Lordstown, Ohio for North American markets.
