The Volkswagen Phaeton has been discontinued in the UK, although a new model is due in the next few years.
A pet project of former VW CEO Ferdinand Piech, the Phaeton is built in a purpose-built factory in Dresden, Germany.
The Phaeton was sold with a V6 turbo-diesel, as well as V8, V10 and W12 gas engines. Although the car found some modest success in Asia and Germany, it has never really been a hit in other parts of the world. It has already been in axed in the US.
The Phaeton’s platform was can still be found under the skin of the Bentley Continental and Flying Spur.
