The eighth generation Toyota Hilux was unveiled overnight at events in Sydney, Australia and Bangkok, Thailand.
The look of the exterior and interior have already been detailed extensively via an on-going stream of leaks. The exterior is a little more butch than before, and two-wheel drive versions are now available with the high-rider look.
On the inside, the new Hilux has a much more refined and high-class interior, with top-spec models featuring an iPad-style touchscreen infotainment system.
Most importantly for owners, the new Hilux has two new diesel engine options, which are hopefully much more refined than the old engines. There’s an all new 110kW/400Nm 2.4-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel.
Above that, a 130kW/450Nm 2.8-litre turbo-diesel replaces the old 3-litre unit, but is slightly more powerful and has much, much more torque.
Towing has been upped to 3.5 tonnes and payload capacity is 1,240kg.
