The W447 Mercedes-Benz Vito van is finally on sale in the USA and Canada, although it will be badged as the Metris to avoid any Godfather connotations.
The new Metris starts from US$28,950 as a cargo van and from US$32,500 as a passenger van, and is based on the W447 Vito that’s sold in the rest of the world.
Unlike the Vito, the Metris is available with a sole engine/transmission combination: a 7-speed auto mated to a 4-cylinder engine putting out 208hp (155kW) and 258 lb-ft (350Nm) to the rear wheels. Automatic engine start/stop is an optional extra.
Standard safety kit includes 6 airbags (8 on the passenger van model), crosswind assistance, stability control and attention assist. Option gear extends to automated parking, lane keeping assistance, parking sensors, automated braking, blind spot monitoring, and reversing camera
