The second generation Volkswagen Sharan MPV has been given a slightly visual update, as well as a whole heap of new engines and safety technology.
The 7N Sharan, and its companion model, the Seat Alhambra, have been on sale since 2009 and this is the first major update for the vehicle — perhaps reflecting the shrinking popularity of people movers on the continent.
Under the bonnet, the revised 7N Sharan will be offered with two turbocharged petrol engine options: a 110kW (150PS) model and a 162kW (220PS) version. On the diesel side of the ledger, there’s one engine in three states of tune: 85kW (115PS), 110kW (150PS) and 135kW (184PS).
Visually the revised 7N Sharan features new headlights, complete with LED driving lights, and reworked tail-lights, which now feature LED elements.
Safety tech includes automated post-collision braking as standard, and options such as lane keeping assistance, city emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, automated parking, and blind spot monitoring.
Inside the cabin there are new accents, materials and a revised instrument cluster to accompany the up-to-date high resolution entertainment and navigation systems, which are equipped with MirrorLink, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
