The electric Tesla Model S sedan will soon receive an over-the-air update which will improve the car’s acceleration.
Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, tweeted last week, “Tesla P85D 0 to 60mph acceleration will improve by ~0.1 sec soon via over-the-air software update to inverter algorithm”.
In a follow up tweet he said, “P85 acceleration will also improve, but not quite as much”.
It’s not known when the Tesla Model S update will begin rolling out to existing vehicles.
Currently the dual-motor all-wheel drive 691hp (515kW) P85D can complete the 0-60mph sprint in 3.2 seconds. The now discontinued rear-wheel drive 420hp (310kW) P85 is able to finish the same run in 4.2 seconds.
