Lexus

Introduced in 1989, Lexus is arguably the most successful of the luxury automotive brands established by Japanese automakers in the 1980s. Lexus started off with the supremely engineered LS sedan, which awoke the German brands from their slumber, and Camry-based ES sedan.

Until recently all Lexus models were based on or sold as Toyota vehicles back in Japan. Now Lexus exists more as its own division and enjoys greater autonomy as it seeks to match its German rivals outside of the US.
