Introduced in 2002 to replace the unloved Cadillac Catera, a thinly disguised and federalised Opel Omega. The original CTS was the first car designed in-house by Caddy to seriously take on the German luxury brands. Priced like a 3-Series, but sized closer to a 5-Series, the CTS offered rear-wheel drive handling with a dose of American flair.
In order to accommodate the ATS, the third generation vehicle has grown to be slightly larger than the 5-Series/E-Class, and is now actively priced against its natural competitors.
