Bob Hall, the man many consider to be the “father” of the MX-5/Miata/Roadster, stopped by to chat with Mazda at the launch of the ND Mazda MX-5.
The video’s feature length by internet standards, but if you love car history, it’s a great way to spend 20 or so minutes to find out about development and production issues that the company faced as they tried to usher the world’s favourite roadster into showrooms.
In the video you’ll hear about how the MX-5/Miata almost failed at the first internal design hurdle, issues with paint colours (including yellow), Hall’s “family” Miata in a unique shade of 323 green, the unsung engineering heroes back in Japan, powerrrrr, turbos, the Honda S2000, their Taco Bell HQ, and so much more.
