The first go-faster fruit of Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicles Operation is the Range Rover Sport SVR: a pumped up, supercharged bullet that can also go off-road, if you really want it to.
Under the SVR’s hood the supercharged 5-litre V8 from top-spec Range Rover Sport models gains an extra 29kW (39hp) and 56Nm (41 lb-ft) to feature a total of 405kW/680Nm (543hp/502 lb-ft).
Equipped with an 8-speed automatic and four-wheel drive, the SVR is able to go from 0 to 60mph (96km/h) in 4.5 seconds (0.5 seconds quicker than the regular 5-litre V8 Range Rover Sport). Top speed is quoted to be 155mph, or up 10mph.
According to Land Rover, the SVR can lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 8 minutes 14 seconds.
The SVR is fitted with 21-inch alloys with 275/45 all-season tyres as standard, while 22-inch alloy wheels with 295/40 performance tyres (Continental SportContact 5) are optional.
Air suspension is standard too. If you want to get your Range Rover Sport SVR dirty, it should prove to be quite capable, as long as you can avoid punctures. To that end the SVR is fitted with Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 system, two-speed low-range drive, 50/50 torque split, and plenty of wheel travel and articulation.
Pricing has yet to be announced.
