Ford F-150 diesel axed due to slow sales, chip shortage

Ford is no longer accepting orders for the F-150 3L PowerStroke V6 turbo-diesel after just three years in the truck’s range.

The 3L V6 turbo-diesel was made in the UK, and is also used in Jaguar Land Rover products (a legacy of Ford’s past ownership of those brands). It made 250hp (186kW) and 440 lb-ft (597Nm), and was fitted with a 10-speed auto.

It was the most expensive engine option in the F-150 truck range, which also includes a 2.7L and 3.5L turbo V6s, a 5L V8, and PowerBoost hybrid.

An all electric Lightning model joins the range next year.
