The 2021 Audi A3 sedan goes on sale in Europe from the summer of 2020, and is again much more handsome the hatchback.
Prices start in Germany from €27,700 (US$30,130).
The car is slightly bigger than before, and headroom is better because the front seats are 20mm (0.8″) lower. Trunk space is the same at 425L (15 cu ft).
The Mark III sedan (the first A3 sedan) was good looking car, and the new one is better with fender blisters. It’s also more aerodynamic with a Cd of 0.25 (down from 0.29 in the current sedan).
A 10.25″ digital instrument cluster and a 10.1″ touchscreen infotainment display are standard.
In Europe there’s two turbocharged gas powertrains, and one diesel engine at launch.
The 35TFSI has a 1.5L turbo direct injection engine with 110kW (148hp), and a 6-speed manual.
It’s also available with a 7-speed DCT (S-tronic), which also has a 48V mild hybrid system that can add 50Nm (37 lb-ft) during acceleration, and improves fuel economy by 0.4L/100km.
Both versions of the 35TFSI have cylinder deactivation.
There’s also a 35TDI with 2L diesel engine with 110kW (148hp), and a 7-speed DCT.
